Welcome to the restoration of
Mike's Cleveland - American Standard # 787

I don't know why I purchased this bass. I'd been looking for a bass for so long and experiencing such frustration. I knew this bass had pretty serious issues but  I bought it anyway. It sounded good even in the condition that it was in. It was difficult to play, but it felt good. I didn't know anything about these basses other than I could read the label enough to know it was american made. After a liitle online research I discovered that many players hold these basses in high regard. It looked pretty ugly to me but still I just liked something about it. Anyway, I decided to share my experience of the process of what ended up being a complete restoration of this old double bass.
