Welcome to the restoration of
Mike's Cleveland - American Standard # 787

THE NECK BLOCK & THE BASS BAR

well, the neck block isn't very nice, but I kinda figured that would be the case
although I didn't think it would look quite this crude

I also didn't think the bass bar would be put on with some kind of foam expanding poly glue

SO LET'S SEE NOW...
we'll save the tuners...remember they were nice...
replace the neck, fingerboard and neck block...
try to save the bass bar but ultimately replace it...
the tailpiece is plastic-like so we'll replace that too...
along with new tail wire and a new bridge...
we can re-use the wheels on the bridge which will save a little money...
and the endpin needs to be reset of course....
the endblock and endpin are in usable condition which will save a little money...
the top needs a patch (build-up) where the soundpost goes...
along with lots of other little edge patches/repairs...
I didn't really want to refinish the body...
but the finish is coming off with the tape that's being used in the repair process so...
oh and I might as well put on new strings on after all this...
*******
I decided to stay with the original 43" scale length
I'll probably regret that later on, but it didn't bother me, so...
I just need to decide on a string choice and a finish color...
and perhaps a pick-up....
